Many people find it difficult to do CPD (Continuing Professional Development). They see it as a chore; something that has to be done once a year.
As a result, they don’t benefit as they could. It doesn’t have to be that way. In this short publication we present a new model that helps professionals fit ‘development’ into daily work.
The model combines ‘planned’ and ‘spontaneous’ CPD as a powerful new way to build CPD into normal life and use it to solve important challenges at work. Planned CPD includes drawing on other people to address these challenges and gain new knowledge. Spontaneous CPD is about seizing opportunities to reflect and learn in everyday events at work and elsewhere. The resulting habits make CPD easy and useful every day – no longer a burdensome task once a year.
